Native Bee Group
The Native Bee Group is committed to the gradual rewilding of honey bees in the Borders, which means nurturing and managing the original native or near-native bees.
Native bees, Apis mellifera mellifera, lived throughout Scotland for millennia before imported southern European bees brought hybridisation from the mid-19th century.
A growing number of BBA members have joined the group, and it is well represented on the committee. It also has a few members from nearby Peeblesshire and Northumberland.
