Swarm removal

There are over 250 types of bees in the UK but there is only one european honey bee (Apis mellifera).  This handy guide will help you to identify bees.

Please check out this website to identify types of bees or wasps. Please be aware that we are only able to remove swarms of honeybees when they are in accessible locations. We are not able to help with removal of bees from buildings or at great heights, these are the job of professional pest controllers.

All of our members are volunteers who can only help with honey bees. Before you call a swarm collector on the list, please look carefully at the bees and compare it with the pictures on the website. It is really helpful if you are able to take a photograph of the bees concerned and to share it with the swarm collector.

Please note we are not able to collect bees from high places, we are not steeplejacks and will do our best to help, but please remember we are not a public service. Our committee has agreed that individuals collecting swarms may make a charge of up to £30 to cover the costs involved such as petrol.

Bees are endangered but they are not protected.

Our beekeepers may only be able to help in cases of honey bee swarms.
